Baroda Citizens Council has been involved in grass root development work since the last 40 years in the city of Baroda . It has been serving Baroda through various innovative projects in the slum population and now has extended its coverage to the rural areas of Baroda district also. Over the years, initiatives towards improving Community health; water, sanitation and shelter; women's health and empowerment; sexual health interventions in the slums and rickshaw drivers in particular have changed people's lives in many ways. Apart from their increased awareness level, people are able to take informed and independent decisions regarding health, prevention against HIV, treatment for sexually transmitted diseases (STD); and are also able to avail services from the government.
There is also an array of programs geared towards children like Balwadi, Special school for mentally challenged, a Child help line, and an Integrated project for street children.
The above mentioned services just provide a glimpse of the wide gamut of work undertaken by the organization. Many of our projects are funded by the govt. but it is our programs for children that suffer due to lack of funds. In fact, Special school for the mentally challenged and Balwadis for under privileged children in 14 slum areas run entirely on donation.
Baroda Citizens Council believes that children are valuable resources who form an edifice for future society. You can give a child an opportunity for a better tomorrow by donating generously to any/all of the three projects described below.
1. Special School for the Mentally Challenged
The main objective of this school is to integrate mentally challenged children into normal schools. As majority of the children are from poor families, it is difficult for parents to spend on their basic care and education. Looking into the needs of these parents, we plan to start a day care centre so that such children are able to develop further. Nearly half of the children have progressed from moderate to mild level of retardation. This is a big achievement for such deprived families who are not even able to look after their normal children.
The School has 30 children at present and we want to double this number in the current year. Imagine! The joy your contribution is going to make to so many unfortunate children in your city. The projected budget for this activity is Rs.10 lakhs per annum.
2. Balwadis
Eating a nutritious meal and learning in a joyful environment is something children from poor families seldom experience. At present BCC is running 14 Balwadis for children between 0-6 years in various slum pockets of Baroda but lack of funds prevents us from continuing this service in future. You could save so many children from being malnourished and out of school. The projected budget for this service is Rs.20 lakhs per annum.
3. Child Help Line Project
Child line is a 24hours emergency free phone service for children in distress, funded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Although, this service is functional since the last five years in Baroda , the funds allocated by the ministry are not enough to meet the other demands of the programme like sponsorship for education or long term rehabilitation of the child. You could save a vulnerable population like this from being abused and help in securing their future. The estimated budget for the same is nearly 10 lakhs per annum.
I request you to kindly fill the attached form below for donation. It's needless to mention that your donation will be exempted for income tax. |
